About Me

My name is Jen Hathorn. I'm a family medicine physician. Since January 2015 I have been living in Egbe Nigeria, which is in Kogi State. I am serving at a bush hospital practicing full spectrum family medicine. I am working with an organization called World Medical Mission which is a part of Samaritan's Purse. Not So Silent Night…

The funky beat blasts from the speakers as the kids remove the outer layer of their costumes to reveal their best hip-hop threads. The wizest of men grabs the mic and feeling the beat busts out…

"… And during their stay, nature had its way
Put the date in the diary for a King’s birthday

While out in the ballpark she hit a home run
’Cause Mary gave birth to her firstborn son

No hotel, motel, custom baby-changer
She wrapped the baby up and laid him in a manger…"

Covered in a shinning, glittery t-sheet and equally glittery ball-cap cocked to the side the coolest 6 year-old angel takes the mic…

"…Chill out my friends, there’s no need for trepidation
I’ve got a message for the world and it’s elation information

(Be delighted and excited, the rocket’s been ignited
The party has started and you have been invited)

Today In Bethlehem (that’s David’s town)
A boy has been born who will wear the crown

He’s the savior and the Lord, there’s no one higher
God’s anointed One, we’re talking Messiah

But you require a sign from this divine arranger
Look for a baby snuggled in a manger…"

Not so silent. Not so traditional - but totally AWESOME! And true! We have all been invited to the best party ever!! The one celebrating the coming of the savior!

Luke 2:10-11, "But the angel said to them, "Don't be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Messiah, the Lord."

Merry Christmas!
