About Me

My name is Jen Hathorn. I'm a family medicine physician. Since January 2015 I have been living in Egbe Nigeria, which is in Kogi State. I am serving at a bush hospital practicing full spectrum family medicine. I am working with an organization called World Medical Mission which is a part of Samaritan's Purse. This blog is my place to stay connected with you through stories, meditations and pictures. I hope that you enjoy reading the posts!

More than ENOUGH

Luggage, and paperwork, and shopping lists! Oh my!
Luggage, and paperwork, and shopping lists! Oh my!!
Luggage, and paperwork, and shopping lists! Oh my!!!

As the cowardly Lion said, “I hope my strength holds out.”
  • Bags are almost packed - I think I have enough pairs of socks and underwear.
  • Paperwork is mostly in order - I hope I have enough copies of my all my diplomas.
  • International insurance should be kicking in any day - I think there are enough business days left to get a years supply of Malarone ordered from the pharmacy.
  • I think I have enough….  Enough of that!
What a great Christmas holiday! Spending time with family and friends is always a blessing! It reminds me how grateful I am to have more than enough love and support as I venture out on this new leg of the journey!

It’s one week till I’m scheduled to fly out of New York all the way to Abuja, Nigeria and I realize that I have more than enough of the really important things that matter most!! I have more than enough people who are helping with all the logistics! (Thank you SP and SIM for all the amazing help). I have more than enough people waiting for me to arrive in Egbe (the best team ever!) I have more than enough people praying for me here in the states (James 5:16, “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much”). And finally, I have received more than enough from a God who is MORE THAN ENOUGH

All of You is more than enough for all of me
For every thirst and every need
You satisfy me with Your love
And all I have in You is more than enough
Enough by Chris Tomlin

“This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.” - 1 John 4:1

Wizard of Oz: “A heart is not judged by how much you love; but by how much you are loved by others.”
