My name is Jen Hathorn. I'm a family medicine physician. Since January 2015 I have been living in Egbe Nigeria, which is in Kogi State. I am serving at a bush hospital practicing full spectrum family medicine. I am working with an organization called World Medical Mission which is a part of Samaritan's Purse. This blog is my place to stay connected with you through stories, meditations and pictures. I hope that you enjoy reading the posts!

My key card makes a buzz, the light turns green and the door opens. Room 102. My home for the last 6 nights. I drop my bag on the floor and drop myself into a chair. Orientation is over! 10 days of information, prayer, fellowship, more information and lots of food! It's been a fun and intense process. My brain is churning as I process topics like cultural awareness, spiritual preparation, program specifics, filing taxes and safety techniques. I look at my watch - 520PM. Time for dinner. I can't believe we are eating again! I'm gonna savor this last dinner with an awesome group of post-residents, their families, and the incredible World Medical Mission staff! I stand up, grab my bag and head out of room 102.
